Summer is set to arrive in style at The Swan in Ascott-under-Wychwood as the much-loved country pub throws open its gardens for a day of exceptional food, live entertainment, family fun, and four-legged celebrations on Saturday 25 July.
Bringing together the very best of the season, The Swan’s Summer Party promises a relaxed afternoon where guests can enjoy delicious dishes cooked over the grill, refreshing cocktails, live music, and plenty of entertainment for all ages in one of the Cotswolds’ most charming village settings.

∙ A SUMMER CELEBRATION ∙ From lunchtime and into the evening, The Swan’s gardens will come alive with music, laughter, and the unmistakable atmosphere of an English summer gathering. Whether you’re joining friends for a leisurely afternoon, bringing the family for a day out, or simply looking for a wonderful excuse to enjoy great food in beautiful surroundings, this promises to be one of the highlights of the season.
Live music begins from 1pm, with performances from Barney Newman and other talented musicians creating the perfect soundtrack throughout the day.
∙ A FEAST FROM THE GRILL ∙ The kitchen will be showcasing an impressive selection of seasonal dishes, freshly prepared and cooked over the coals.
Guests can look forward to indulgent oysters served both chilled and grilled, charred baby octopus, wood-fired scallops, succulent half lobster, lamb lollipops straight from the grill, venison burgers, Cumberland sausage rings, vibrant seasonal salads, and plenty more delicious summer favourites.
Adding to the celebrations, The Cotswolds Distillery will also be serving expertly crafted cocktails from a dedicated pop-up bar, making it the perfect opportunity to raise a glass to summer.



∙ FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY ∙ While the adults relax with great food and drinks, younger visitors can enjoy face painting and crafts from 1pm, ensuring there’s plenty to keep little ones entertained throughout the afternoon.
Visitors will also be treated to a traditional performance from the Charlbury Morris Dancers, adding an authentic touch of English countryside charm to the festivities.
∙ THE DOG SHOW RETURNS ∙ At 3pm, attention turns to some very special guests as The Swan’s ever-popular annual dog show gets underway.
This year’s judging will once again be led by Dr Marvin J. Firth, veterinary surgeon and founder of County Canine, who will be selecting winners across a series of light-hearted categories, including Waggiest Tail, Dog Most Like Its Owner, Best Fancy Dress, Best Junior Handler, and the coveted Dog the Judge Would Most Like to Take Home.
Entry is completely free, with owners simply signing up on the day. Rosettes and prizes await the winning pooches, making it a wonderful opportunity for dogs and their humans alike to join in the fun.
